Good Evening Clayton Park Students, Families and Guardians,
The staff at CPJH want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support in your child’s learning journey. Together, we are creating a welcoming and kind environment where every student can thrive.
At CPJH, we are committed to maintaining a positive learning atmosphere where students feel valued, safe, and engaged. Your encouragement at home plays a crucial role in helping our students follow school expectations that foster this environment.
We believe in celebrating diversity, valuing honesty, encouraging kindness, promoting respect, ensuring unwavering acceptance, embracing teamwork, and recognizing achievements. These principles are at the core of our community, making our school a space where everyone feels safe and valued.
Thank you for being an integral part of our CPJH family. Let’s continue to work together to create an equitable and supportive space for all our students.
Reminder Cell Phone and Personal Electronic Device Policy
As part of our ongoing commitment to creating a focused and productive learning environment, we want to remind everyone about our policy regarding cell phones and personal electronic devices on school property.
Policy Reminder: Students are not permitted to use cell phones or personal electronic devices during school hours. Devices must be out of site and always stored in lockers throughout the school day, including lunch hour. This policy is in place to minimize distractions and ensure that our students can fully engage in their education.
2024 2025 Cell Phone and Personal Device Directive at CPJH.docx
We recognize the fantastic progress our students are making, and we believe that by reinforcing this policy, we can continue to support their success. We encourage you to discuss this with your child and help them understand the importance of staying focused while at school.
We appreciate your cooperation and partnership in helping us maintain a positive learning atmosphere. Together, we can ensure that our students continue to thrive.
Thank you for your support!
Reminder: No School This Friday, October 25th
Please remember that there will be no school for students this Friday, October 25th, as our staff will be participating in professional development. We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to enhance our skills and improve the learning experience for our students.
Inclement weather
Did you know? HRCE takes great care when making the decision to alter the regular operations of schools and school buses in the event of severe or inclement weather.
It is HRCE’s goal to communicate any changes to the regular operations of schools and/or buses as close to 6:00 a.m. as possible. A 6:00 a.m. announcement could be:
- All schools are delayed in opening by two hours and bus pickups are delayed by two hours; or
- All schools are open, but some or all buses are not operating for the day; or
- Some schools (either individually or by family) are closed for the day; or
- All schools are closed for the day.
Delayed opening, school would be delayed by two hours. At Clayton Park, this means school would start at 11:20 am. If school buses are operating, the expectation will be that students are picked up two hours later than their regularly assigned time pending any weather-related delays. Our lunch and dismissal times will remain at their regularly scheduled times.
If weather deteriorates, or is forecasted to worsen throughout the morning, an 11:00 a.m. announcement could be:
- Bused students will be picked up two hours earlier than their regular dismissal time; and
- Walking students will be dismissed at their regularly scheduled lunch hour.

Dressing for the Weather
As the colder weather arrives, please remind your child to dress appropriately for the conditions. Unless temperatures are extremely low, students will spend 25 minutes outside during lunch. It is our expectation that all students are outside for a portion of their lunch break. Rest assured; school administration will be supervising the students during this time. Thank you for your support in ensuring our students are prepared for the weather!
Student Drop Off, Pick Up, Bus Loop and Staff Parking Lot
If you are dropping off a student, please use the side of the street that is closest to Clayton Park and has sidewalks. This side of the street is a 15-minute parking zone. The opposite side of the street (across from CPJH) is a no parking / dropping off zone. We are asking that parents and guardians not drop off or pick up students in the morning or after school on this side of the street. We need to keep this side of the street clear at all times for bus access. There have been two accidents in the past week due to parking and dropping off on the no parking / dropping off side of the street. We ask for your cooperation with this.
We ask that families do not access the bus loop and staff parking lot from 8am – 4pm daily. The school buses access both areas and they must remain free of cars for the safety of our students and community.
Wildcat Weeklies Winners!
At Clayton Park Junior High, we take pride in recognizing students who exemplify respect for their peers and staff, demonstrate kindness to everyone, and strive to do their best! Each week, our staff selects one student from each grade level who embodies these values.
The Wildcat Weeklies winners are announced every Friday at the end of the day. Ms. Canavan, our Principal, will send an email to each winner’s family to celebrate their achievement as that week’s Wildcat Weeklies recipient. Winners will also receive a certificate and a special pencil as a token of our appreciation.
We encourage all students to continue showing respect and kindness in our school community. Together, we can foster an environment where everyone feels valued and inspired to succeed!
