Orange Shirt Day

Every year on September 30th, people across Canada wear orange and participate in Orange Shirt Day events to recognize and raise awareness about the history and legacies of the residential school system in Canada. Orange Shirt Day originates from the story of Phyllis Webstad from the Stswecem'c Xgat'tem First Nation.

At Clayton Park, we will be wearing orange on September 29, in honour of residential school survivors and to demonstrate a collective belief that every child matters.

Supervision

Just a friendly reminder that supervision begins at 9am for students. Students should not be on school property before 9am as; supervision is not provided before this time. We have had many students over the past week and a half arriving earlier than 9am. Administration has spoken to all classes, reminded students about this, and explained the rationale behind it.

Updated Registration Forms

This week students will receive a copy of their registration information,  and their GNSPES/network rules/ user agreement forms and Media Release Forms. Please review these documents and return them signed and updated.  Please look for these in your students bookbags this week.

Curriculum Night

Lunch Monitors

We are looking for anyone who might be interested in working with us as a Lunch Monitor. Our lunchtime is 12:20-1:20 each day.  We have a number of positions to fill. If you or someone you know is interested in working part time at the school. Please reach out to Ms. Gee, Vice Principal. EGee@hrce.ca or give us a call at (902) 457-8930.

School Advisory Council (SAC)

We are looking to add two parent / guardians and two  community members to our SAC this year. If you would like to be on the schools SAC or know someone who meets the below criteria and would like to join us, please email Trina Canavan, Principal tcanavan@hrce.ca

Parents / guardians

• Must have a child at Clayton Park Junior High School and cannot be a Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) employee on staff at Clayton Park Junior High Schoo

Community member

• must not be an employee of Clayton Park Junior High
• may or may not have children registered at Clayton Park Junior High School
• must reside in the geographical area served by Clayton Park Junior High School or provide a service to or within the geographical area served by Clayton Park Junior High School

Grade 7 Immunization Forms

Please send in Grade 7 Immunization Forms as soon as possible.  Thank you to those families that have already sent them in.

Paying school-related fees is about to get easier!
