Take Our Kids To Work Day
Take Our Kids To Work Day
Wednesday, November 14th, is National Take Our Kids To Work Day for all
participating grade 9 students across the country! On this day, students have an
opportunity to job-shadow an adult, to learn more about a specific job (part-time or full
time) or a potential career path. Students have been provided with a Parent & Employer
Information package which includes additional details, deadlines and the required
consent form. If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to discuss potential job
placements for your son/daughter, as spots in the community do fill up quickly. We
recognize that not all parents can host a student on this particular day, so we have
discussed ways students can reach out to people outside of their families to secure a
job shadow opportunity on November 14. This is a great way for students to develop
communication skills (by phone or in person) and interpersonal connections as they will
soon be seeking “real” part-time employment, perhaps applying for summer jobs next
year!
If you are able to host an additional student (along with your own son/daughter) at your
workplace, we greatly appreciate this and please get in touch with me at your earliest
convenience.
